SQL 2005 T-SQL Reference

I have a book that came with SQL Server 7.0 called the "Microsoft SQL
Server Transact-SQL and Utilities Reference, Volume 1."  It basically
lists the T-SQL statements with common examples for each.  Nothing
else, no programming techniques, no tutorial, etc.  I use it
extensively because I've never liked the onscreen help or books
on-line.  Since it's version 7 it's of course slightly out of date.  It
was printed by Microsoft but I haven't been able to find the same thing
for SQL 2005.  Did they print one?  Is there anything similiar
available?

Thanks,
C

I'm sorry, but a print version of the T-SQL Reference section of Books
Online is not available for either SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005.   My
understanding is the decision was made for two reasons: the tremendous
increase in the size of the T-SQL Reference section between 7.0 and 2000 and
the poor sales of the 7.0 print version.

I'm not aware of other books on the market that would have what you're
looking for, but others may chime in with suggestions.

O'reilly has a good series of pocket references...I use their VBScript
one for hacking my way through legacy ASP apps daily.  I thought I saw
a Transact-SQL one in a book store but I could only find a generic SQL
volume online:

Gail,

Thanks for the replay.  Is there a .DOC or .PDF of the T-SQL Reference
section of Books Online available for download?  Using the built-in
print function of Books Online prints all the graphics and has too
large a print.

Thanks,
C

Not at the present. However, we are aware that printing from BOL is pretty
painful right now and we're actively looking for good print solutions.  The
ability to provide a .doc or .pdf format for various sections of BOL (e.g.
T-SQL Ref) is high on the list of things we're working on.  It's likely that
we won't have anything in place until the next version of SQL Server though.

I've forwarded your request to the group that is working on this issue.
It's always good to get this kind of customer feedback.
Thanks,
Gail
