Re: Copy SQL ResultSet to Variable or Table This!http://racster.blogspot.com/2006/08/dataphor-sql-table-this.html I think your too bright not to see thru what sql is selling:) After you work with a 'relational' db you'll see that 'this' or 'that' dialect is not the issue. Perhaps you'll give it a try. best, steve Show quote "Tom Cooper" <tom.no.spam.please.cooper@comcast.net> wrote in message news:DYCdnc2_SuruSHnZnZ2dnUVZ_vydnZ2d@comcast.com... > Then I guess we speak different languages :-) > > I, however, usually use the Microsoft SQL Server dialect which calls it a > data type, lookup table variables in BOL or see > http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175010.aspx > > Tom > > "Steve Dassin" <steve@nospamrac4sql.net> wrote in message > news:eLJojejwGHA.4880@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > > "Tom Cooper" <tom.no.spam.please.cooper@comcast.net> wrote in message > > news:X9CdnYmFAq5zCXnZnZ2dnUVZ_v-dnZ2d@comcast.com... > >> There is a local variable type of table which acts (almost) exactly like > >> a table. > > > > If only this were truely so. > > Don't mean to be picky but there is no such thing as a 'type' of table > > in the sense of a type of integer which has well defined properties. > > If sql server had a table type we would be speaking a different language:) > > > > http://racster.blogspot.com/ > > > > A person wears a shield of decency but what he believes you can tear to > > shreds. > > > > > > I don't really have any major problem with what you are saying. And if this
were a computer language theory newsgroup, I minght even agree with you. But it's not and it is not a newsgroup for relational database theory. It is (IMHO) a newsgroup for solving programming problems in MS SQL Server. So I am only interested in calling it whatever would be most useful to the OP - who, it turns out, is using Sybase, so he's in the wrong newsgroup too :-). I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this. I appreciate your response and appreciate what your saying. But I'm not p-----g in the wind :) I'm working with D4 now. Yes, I'm trying to sell people on the idea of starting to work with Dataphor. You can work with sql server at the same time. I use sql server as a data respository. But you can still query sql server 'directly' from dataphor if you want in sql server's very own sql:) So you get the best of both worlds:) C'mon, you know how many rocks you gotta turn over before you strike it rich:) best, steve http://racster.blogspot.com/ Show quote "Tom Cooper" <tom.no.spam.please.cooper@comcast.net> wrote in message news:VNGdnbVsltITcnjZnZ2dnUVZ_qGdnZ2d@comcast.com... >I don't really have any major problem with what you are saying.
