SQL permission problemI have downloaded two different ASP tutorials from Microsoft which require
the use of SQL 2005 Express. In both cases I am getting the error: Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed. I'm sure it is a permission problem but don't know how to fix it. Some information on my system: 1. I'm running on SQL 2005 Express in Vista 2. I am logged in as a domain admin with local admin permissions on the computer. What is a "user instance?" Where can I find information on troubleshooting? Thanks, bob are you logged on locally or are you connecting remotely to a PC using
Remote Desktop? desktop. thats why i asked. To be honest with you, you are running SQL on Vista, which i assume is the release candidate 1 version? You may not find too much support for your current setup yet, so you may need to contact MS directly for some support. Have you checked on the MS's kownledgebase page for some support? http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-gb;kbhowto Immy Show quote "Bob Weiner" <b**@engr.uconn.edu> wrote in message news:B2C1F48A-A59E-4462-A730-2C47A43DE8E7@microsoft.com... >I am logged on locally. good question. > > bob > > > > "Immy" <therealasianb***@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:%23cyCHlM2GHA.1292@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >> are you logged on locally or are you connecting remotely to a PC using >> Remote Desktop? >> >> "Bob Weiner" <b**@engr.uconn.edu> wrote in message >> news:B658B5B1-07D0-4F25-9AA7-28CFE81257D4@microsoft.com... >>>I have downloaded two different ASP tutorials from Microsoft which >>>require the use of SQL 2005 Express.
