Debugging SP in 2005Hi everyone,
I installed SQL 2005 and I am testing it now. I can't seem to find an easy way of debugging procedures any more. In SQL 200 query analyzer, one can right-click and there is Debug option there. Where did it go now? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks Farmer What is the Beta version you are using?. As 2K5 is still in beta lot of 2000
features are still missing. Hope it will be in teh final relase. -- Show quoteThanks Ravi "Farmer" wrote: > Hi everyone, > I installed SQL 2005 and I am testing it now. I found an article on it http://www.sqljunkies.com/WebLog/nielsb/archive/2004/08/04/3758.aspx but I can't seem to see those "Allow SQL/CLR Debugging" and "Step Into ...", options he mentions there. my case, maybe? Where would I verify that now? The preveous SQL 2000 instllation was way simplier. This one has many choices that I am not that familiar with yet. I am much clearer now why not. However, this sucks if MS were to leave it this way. Now when I go to a SQL Server I can't debug anything unless I have VS2005 installed? How about being at customer site, managing SQL 2005? I am DBA and I never needed VS (I have it though) as I always would write TSQL procedures in query analyzer. Most often I don't need debugger at all as I manage to create tight TSQL procedures that do what I need in 1-2-3 more complex SQL statements (this newsgroup is awesome for leaning TSQL tricks). I guess this is a new era coming; I need now to bloat my computer with a full VS2005. client tools. Now we need more and more tools. But if you notice 1 thing in June CTP t he " SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" is not separate IDE like Beta 2 and Beta 3. It is VS2005 Beta. So when the full relase comes you need VS20005 to create DTS(BTW it is SSIS Packages packages :-)) etc., -- Show quoteThanks Ravi "Farmer" wrote: > Thank you. > I am much clearer now why not. > > However, this sucks if MS were to leave it this way. > Now when I go to a SQL Server I can't debug anything unless I have VS2005 > installed? The VS IDE is shipped with SQL Server (just like in June CTP).
