Unable to login using iSQL ...

I am trying to use isql from the DOS command prompt & I am getting the
following error. The command and the error are as follows:

H:\>ISQL -Usa -Psa
DB-Library: Unable to connect: SQL Server is unavailable or does not exist. 
Una
ble to connect: SQL Server does not exist or network access denied.
Net-Library error 53: ConnectionOpen (Connect()).

I have sqlserver 2000 installed on this machine and also have several
databases.

Pls advise. Will appreciate your help.
