Weird unc vs ip address

Hi All
Am hoping someone can help me please.
I am using bcp to create a csv file on a remote share. If I use the ip address of the remote share as part of the unc path to the remote share I get an access denied error.
If I use the machine name of the remote share as part of the unc path to the remote share everything works fine. If anyone has any ideas I would be most appreciative of any help.

The only question I can think of, and I apologize if it seems to be
pedantic, is: are you SURE the ip address matches the NETBIOS name?
Have you tried nslookup to verify that it does? Be sure that you are
checking from the server, and not from your workstation; someone may
have set up a host file (or something) to change the DNS mapping.
